OUR HOME IMPROVEMENT AND HOME-A-RAMA SPECIAL
Families live in their kitchens. It is a place where memories are made and bonding happens. Bob Moore, owner of Chateau Kitchens knows kitchens are a special gathering place and strives to provide a positive experience for his clients. “ Most people get totally overwhelmed with all of the choices available,” Bob says. “My designers have personality, connect immediately with customers and are really talented at pulling colors together.”
According to Bob, remodels are huge. “There are thousands of homes in Hamilton County that are in desperate needs of remodeling. We don’t just focus on kitchens, we
can rework any space in any home. Big decorative showers with lots of glass are in. Corner Jacuzzi tubs are out.” After decades in the industry, Bob admits he can walk into a home and pretty estimate the costs of desired updates. “We do a lot of work, drawings, 3D design and estimates before we even charge a dime.” Chateau Kitchens will complete about 150 projects this year. Even so, Bob knows it is crucial to educate people about budgets, quality and the ability to turn designs around quickly in order to meet the demands and timeline requirement of customers.
HOUSEWURKS OF ZIONSVILLE
Feeling the pain of a diving market, small home builder, Jim Barber took a break from the housing industry. However, he recognized that Zionsville’s new build lots were limited and many older homes could not be sold, torn down or renovated. Fortunately, Barber found opportunities that reflected his urge to address a niche market that realized remodeling could be more costeffective than building a new home.
“We don’t like to do total teardowns, but want to use the foundation of the existing home in tact in order to build a more uptodate attractive house. We take significant issues that require a lot of work and turn into an attractive architectural structure that is pleasing to the eye.
In September 2015, Barber started looking for homes that required extensive work, remodeling and flipping them. “We did barebones renovations where we took designs down to the studs, changed floor plans and created functional homes.”
The latest products and consumer desires are always a critical factor in inspiring today’s homeowner to move to something new. For example, more open kitchens with painted cabinets, furniture like islands with striking solid surface countertops, subway tile backsplashes, distressed wood or tile type flooring, large open walk in showers with exquisite tile work, waterfall and multiple shower head designs, and multifunctional spaces from bonus rooms to inlaw quarters.
These are just a few important details that Jarrod Klein, Regional VP of M/I Homes shares, but there is more: “Our green features are the result of our relentless pursuit of the ultimate, energy efficient home. We wrap every home in a weathertight envelope. We seal every seam and caulk every crevasse. We have each home independently rated to certify the energy savings. For an M/I home, our homeowners save up to 30% over the cost of a home built to standard code. Our ratings even beat Energy Star targets. As a part of our commitment to quality, M/I uses 2”x6” exterior wall construction, Zip Board, and multiple other industry leading construction practices with an end result of the strongest warranty commitment in the business…a 15 Year Transferable Structural Warranty.”
